"Don’t let your past blackmail your present, to ruin your beautiful future."

Dear Mental health,

I know that you have been crammed between the folds of life, being pushed into a room where you have slipped into an abyss. But, how could I have been so inconsiderate, so negligent, to a friend like you? Of course, I had been and so I consider writing this letter as an apology to you my long lost friend.

You were with me, while the world around me had flickered at times. The terror haunting me and the beauties bringing me back to the present. Though our relationship has been bittersweet , you have seen every important moment of this journey- called life. I may have forgotten you but, you stayed right next to me. And yes, I'm glad of the choice we have made, together with a grain of indifference.

Now, as I look at a wilted and leafless tree, I don't doubt if it will bloom again. Instead I remember the moment I climbed it as a child with sunlight shining through the leaves flickering on my face. This is what you have taught me. Everything has a parallel, something to hold on to and something to let go. Late at night, when I gaze at the pale crescent moon hanging from the sky, I don't think of sleepless nights. I think of how important it is to let go of things which hurt you and start accepting the love instead.

When I was the victim of the demons overtaking, you told me to fight the battle. You told me to choose joy and think of myself. It didn't mean that I am selfish, it is just that a bird with broken wings cannot fly in the future. You have wrapped me in your arms on the of darkest of days. So thank you, for letting me know how a painful breakdown can result in a powerful breakthrough.

I may have created some distance with some people, but will definitely, want to hug you whenever possible.

P.S. If you have not watched 'Dear Zindagi' it is definitely worth a watch. A feel-good movie, that brings out the harsh reality of our true state of mind.
