Inspiration can come from anywhere, take for example Ishaan, an 8 year old boy whose inspiration was in his imagination. He was curious to comprehend everything around him, in his unique way of imagining cartoons or illustrations. It’s so interesting to know how Ishaan was intrigued by the littlest of the littlest. The shape of bubbles, the fish in water, the painted sky during sunrise and sunset.
This movie tears me up every time I watch it because this boy is so different from what I’ve seen and even understood. His life so different from mine, yet he enjoys every moment of it, he sees the beauty of life to its truest essence.
Even though, he was far from understood or even accepted by his school staff, most of his classmates and even his own parents he stood there without anyone to support him, a boy in shining armour. A boy who was shattered and broken from inside but had the courage to put a smile on his face and to appreciate life.
He was bothered by the behaviour and attitude he received until Nikumbh Sir came in, a guiding light in life, a person he would never expect to change his life.
Mainer times, we are taught to compete, be at the top of the class (not that that’s bad, but) we aren’t taught to empathise, to embrace our weird selves and mostly to explore our individuality and creativity.
We need more mentors like Nikumbh Sir, a true hero, a mentor and a guide. Ones who believe and see more to us than our grades and reports. People who see and love us for us.
Movie: Taare Zameen Par, 2007
