Friends are often described as family we choose. However, I believe that there are some special friends who we do not choose. Rather, they choose us.
Naina and Aditi’s friendship was one such bond. These two were polar opposites of each other. One was rebellious, eccentric, blissfully confused and a ball of infectious energy, while the other was disciplined, rule-abiding, focused and quiet. Aditi was an extrovert- a hurricane of happiness and madness and Naina, an introvert- a gentle breeze. They were like two sides of a coin but their bond was full of love and therefore unbreakable.
This kind of love was only present in the closest of friends. The love that stands tall through all the storms, and holds you tight while you go through all your phases- ‘the painter phase, the poet phase, the leather jacket phase, the nail art phase’ and every single phase in between- without the slightest of complaints.

The love which is present during heartbreak and headaches. They’re the ones to uplift you when you’re feeling down, and dance along during the good times. They’ll bare you’re rock music even if they only listen to Bollywood music. They’ll make fun of you, or laugh at you but they’re only one call away. They’re waiting for your text or call to know the gossip or to hear you rant endlessly.
They’re your best friend even if you’ll contrast each other in every sense or the slightest of ways. The beauty is that it’s the most wholesome relationship you can have.
Naina and Aditi’s bond is one not bound by any legalities, religion, colour, societal pressure, politics but, by love. Love in such a pure form.
